A very difficult season for Panathinaikos was 2017-2018. With Dimitris Andreopoulos for another year as the team's coach, Panathinaikos aimed to stay in the first division. Having the experienced Pantaleon and Bellos and many young athletes, Panathinaikos started the season in Mets Indoor. However, at the end of the season returned to the previous home court, the Kipseli Indoor.

Until the middle of the season, Panathinaikos was in the bottom of the standings. The transfers of Jonatas Cardoso and Eric Batajim helped Panathinaikos to comeback. Although they were in the playouts, behind Niki Aiginiou and Ethnikos Alexandroupolis, they managed to stay in Volley League, as well as Ethnikos, after Niki Aiginiou finished 3^th in the playouts.

In the League Cup "Nikos Samaras" the greens were defeated by Pamvochaikos and Panachaiki and were excluded from the first round. However, in the Greek Cup after the victory over Kifissia with 3-2 and Ethnikos Piraeus with 0-3 they were in the Final 4. After an impressive semifinal, Panathinaikos was defeated by Iraklis Thessaloniki with 3-2 (32-34 , 17-25, 36-34, 32-30, 15-10).

Christos Bellos was together with Sotiris Pantaleon the leader of the team in this difficult season and was the main Outside Hitter of the team. This jersey was worn during the season. Errea made this very simple and beautiful jersey for the greens while on the back there was a detail, the shamrock and "PANATHINAIKOS A.O.".
