Greece took part in the European Volleyball Championship in 2019, ten years after its last participation. Having qualified easily, Greece was in a difficult group with opponents France, Bulgaria, Italy, Romania and Portugal. Eurovolley 2019 was co-organized by four countries, France, Slovenia, Belgium, the Netherlands, with each of these countries being in a different group.

Group A, in which Greece participated, was held in Montpellier, France. Greece lost 3-0 to Bulgaria in the first game. In the second game, they took the lead in winning the first set against Italy, but in the end, the silver Olympians won 1-3. France prevailed over Greece 3-0 and in a very decisive game Greece got its first victory over Romania with 3-1. The fifth and last game would judge the 4th place which qualified the Round of 16. Greece was defeated 1-3 by Portugal but the game between Portugal and Romania (1-3) had exactly the score and points required and so Greece tied with Romanians and Portuguese. Greece and Portugal had 386 points won but the Greeks conceded 432 versus 433 conceded by the Portuguese. So Greece advanced to the Round of 16 but the mighty Russians advanced to the quarterfinals 3-0.

Macron made a set of very beautiful jerseys that were presented a few days before the European Championship. The dark shirt was worn in 4 of the 6 games that Greece played in the tournament. Thanasis Protopsaltis had great appearances on Eurovolley 2019. Protopsaltis did a very good course and with 137 points was the 13th best scorer in the tournament.
