Barcelona 2009-2010 Joan Gamper Trophy (110 Years Jersey)
Season: 2009-2010
Player: Lionel Messi
Tournament: Joan Gamper Trophy
Manufacturer: Nike
The Joan Gamper Trophy has been held by Barcelona since 1966 in honor of its founding member and former team president, Joan Gamper. Until 1996 it was a four-team tournament and was organized shortly before the start of the season at Camp Nou. Since 1997 it has ceased to be a four-team tournament and has essentially become a single friendly match keeping the trophy for the winner.
In 2009, Barcelona hosted Manchester City for the Joan Gamper Trophy on 19 August. The English team won the trophy with a 0-1 win with Martin Petrov scoring. In that game, Barcelona wore this one-off jersey for one to celebrate its 110-year history. Proceeds from the sale of this shirt were donated by the FC Barcelona Foundation to support refugee children. There is "MES" logo on the front of the jersey coming from the well-known Catalan motto Mes Que un Club ("More than one club") while the inside of the back reads in Spanish, Catalan and English "Your purchase supports a global movement helps your changes them lives through sports".
