The Under-23 World Volleyball Championship was held in 2017 in Slovenia. The event was attended by many of the greatest volleyball talents around the world, resulting in a highly competitive and high-level event.

Main point in these tournaments is that the game is not judged in the 3 winning sets but in the 4 winning sets while the sets end at 15 points instead of 25.

Bulgaria was one of the strongest and most talented teams in this World Cup. The team included athletes such as the captain Dimitrova, Paskova, Neykova and Todorova, who emerged as the top libero of the tournament.

In Group B, Bulgaria finished 2^th behind Turkey and ahead of Brazil, Cuba, Japan and Kenya. The second place led to the qualification to the semifinals where the team faced the host Slovenia. The 4-1 defeat sent Slovenia to the final and Bulgaria to the Bronze Medal match against the Dominican Republic. With 4-2 (15–12, 8–15, 11–15, 18–16, 11–15, 9–15) Bulgaria won the bronze medal while Turkey with 4-0 over Slovenia won the World Championship.

Neykova, who was a CSKA Sofia Volley player that year, was the main setter of the national team. This shirt was worn during the World Championship. Neykova put it up for auction to support charitable action in her homeland.
