Pau Gasol was the leader of Spain who easily eliminated Germany in the quarterfinals and hardly Greece in the semifinals. In the final in Madrid, Spain faced Russia of coach Blatt and Andrei Kirilenko. Spain, which a year earlier had won the World Cup in Japan in the final against Greece, wanted to win its first European Championship in its history.

The final seemed to be judged in favor of Spain shortly before the end, however, Russia with excellent defenses and a big shot by Holden 2 seconds before the end made the upset. The last shot of the match was made by Gasol who finally missed and with 59-60 Russia won the Eurobasket in Spain.

Pau Gasol scored 14 points in the final in 33 minutes of participation. Although he lost the decisive shot of the final, he was one of the top scorers in the tournament and with 18.8 points he was the 4^th scorer of Eurobasket and the 2^th blocker with 1.8 blocks per game. This shirt is one of the jerseys he wore during the tournament and is a gift from a man from the Spanish Federation. The Chinese company Li Ning dressed the Spanish team in the period 2004-2012. The jersey of 2007 was quite similar to that of 2006, it had the logo of Spain in full in an impressive way on the front while as usual there was the logo of FIBA Europe.
