Spain had not won an international title since 1964 and the Euro it had organized. From then on, failures in European and World Cups followed, with the result that "Furia Roja" carries the label of looser. In 2008, having an excellent roster that relied heavily on players from Barcelona and Real Madrid, then the leading forces in European football, Spain's only goal was to win the title.

In the first round of the Euro, which was organized in the stadiums of Austria and Switzerland, Span was in Group D along with the previous champions, Greece, Russia and Sweden. Spain beat Russia (4-1), Sweden (2-1) and Greece (2-1) in a row and advanced to the quarterfinals.

In the quarterfinals in Vienna they faced the world champion, Italy. The game ended 0-0 but the Spanish qualified on penalties 4-2. In the semifinal they met again the very strong Russia. Spain, wearing golden jersey, impressed and advanced to the final with 3-0 with goals from Xavi, Guiza and David Silva.

This would be the third Euro final for Spain after the 1964 one against the Soviet Union and the one in 1984 when it lost to France. This time the opponent was Germany. At the Ernst-Happel stadium in Vienna, Spain, with a goal by Torres in the 33rd minute, won 1-0 and won the European trophy for the second time in its history.

Cesc Fabregas was a key member of all of Spain's games in that tournament. In 2008 he played in the national team as an Arsenal player to follow his transfer to Barcelona in 2011 and Chelsea in 2014. This jersey is one of those used during Euro 2008. FORMATION technology was used at that time in the competition jerseys from adidas. Apart from the patches on the sleeves, no match details were used from Spain in 2008.
