The first FIFA World Cup was held in 1930 in Uruguay. The host country, on the one hand, was celebrating 100 years of independence and, on the other hand, was the greatest power in world football, having won the gold medal at the 1924 and 1928 Olympic Games.

The 1930 World Cup featured 13 teams, 4 of which were European and the remaining 9 from the American continent. Uruguay made 2/2 in their group, beating Peru 1-0 and Romania 4-0.

The first from each group were crossed in the semifinals. The two semifinals had the same impressive score after Uruguay defeated Yugoslavia 6-1 and Argentina defeated the USA with the same score. Argentina and Uruguay were the finalists of the first World Cup final. Both teams wanted to use the ball of their own construction in the final, with the result that in the first half the ball of the Argentines was used and in the second of the Uruguayans. Dorado scored the first goal for Celeste but with goals from Peucelle and Stabile, Argentina took the lead at the end of the first half. But then Cea, Iriarte and Castro turned things around and led to a 4-2 victory over Uruguay and their first World Cup.

This shirt is an exact replica of the jersey used by Uruguay in 1930. Classic style, with laces on the collar, as usual, and no number on the back as this had not been established. Celeste wore long-sleeved shirts in the final, despite the fact that they wore short-sleeved appearances for most of the World Cup.
