Foinikas Syros, having a competitive team, claimed three titles in the 2017-18 season while also participating in the European Challenge Cup. However, he did not manage to win any title.

In Volley League, Foinikas finished third in the regular season behind Olympiakos and PAOK while they were marginally higher than Iraklis Thessaloniki and Kifissia in the standings. In the playoffs, they faced Iraklis Chalkidas in the quarterfinals. The team of Syros was better and with 2-0 victories qualified for the semifinals. There they found the obstacle of PAOK. PAOK won 3-1 and 3-0 in the games in Thessaloniki. In the game of Syros, Foinikas was very good but lost 2-3. Thus, Foinikas Syros and Kifissia were ranked 3^th in the Volley League 2017-18.

In the CEV Challenge Cup, Foinikas initially eliminated Norwegian Viking with victories 0-3 and 3-2. In the round of 16 the opponent was Montana from Bulgaria. Montana won 3-1 at home and so the victory of Foinikas with 3-2 in Syros was not enough to qualify.

In the Greek Cup, Foinikas was eliminated early. In the round of 16, in first game of the team in the tournament, was defeated by AEK 3-0 despite AEK playing in A2 Division. Something special happened in the League Cup. Foinikas Syros and Iraklis Chalkida were tied in Group D with 4 points. Foinikas had won 3-2 in the game against Iraklis Chalkida but the organizing authority had not predicted what would happen in the draws. So it was decided to have a one more game where Foinikas won 3-1 and advanced to Final 4. The Final 4 was organized in Syros but Olympiakos "stopped" Foinikas in the semifinal with 3-0 and then won the title against Ethnikos Alexandroupolis.

Tassos Gatsis was one of the main middle-blocker of Foinikas and played the most matches of the season. This jersey was worn in all the tournaments that the team played. Due to the participation in the CEV Challenge Cup the names of the players were written in Latin characters while the team used its new renewed badge.
