The great career of the Argentine Javier Zanetti ended in 2014 in the game between Inter and Lazio. Zanetti was acquired by Inter in 1995, at the age of 22, and remained with the Milan team until 2014 with a total of 615 appearances.

Having won 5 Italian championships, 4 Cups, 4 Italian Super Coppa but also 1 Champions League, 1 UEFA Cup and 1 Club World Cup, Zanetti completed his career as Inter captain in the penultimate game of Serie A in 2013-2014. Inter welcomed Lazio. Inter needed a victory to secure the 5^th place that led to the Europa League while Lazio was in the 9^th place. Although Lazio scored in the 2nd minute with Biava but the upset was quickly reversed after Palacio equalized in the 7th minute, Icardi gave the lead in the 34th minute and Palacio scored again in the 37th minute. With a goal by Andrade Lima in 79', the final score became 4-1 for Inter. In the 52nd minute, Javier Zanetti replaced Moreira and played for the last time in his career.

For him there was a special jersey which he wore once and only. "EVER" was written under the number on the back, as a result of which it is combined with his favorite number, 4, "ZANETTI 4 EVER". On the sleeve there was a logo based on the team's emblem and the initials of Argentina with its number, JZ4, and of course on the other sleeve the Serie A patch.

Inter's victory over Lazio was followed by a short ceremony where the crowd applauded the team leader and at the same time Zanetti thanked the people and the team for all the years they spent together, as the next game and its last season would be away from home.
