Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Spanish Cup final between Atletico Bilbao and Real Zaragoza did not take place in May 2020 and was originally scheduled for December 2020. However, it took place in April 2021. Nevertheless, the two finalists participated to Supercopa de España in the with last season's champions, Real Madrid, and runners-up Barcelona.

The first semi-final, between Real Sociedad and Barcelona, took place at the Nuevo Arcángel in Cordoba and Barcelona after the final 1-1 qualified in penalty shootout. The second semi-final, between Real Madrid and Athletic Bilbao took place at La Rosaleda in Malaga and with a 2-1 victory Bilbao advanced to the final.

In the final at La Cartuja in Seville, Barcelona took the lead with a goal from Griezmann in the 40'. De Marcos equalized after two minutes. However, Griezmann again gave his team the lead at 77'. In additional time of the match, Villalibre equalized again for Bilbao and it seemed that he would send the game to extra time. But with an amazing goal by Williams in 93', Bilbao completed the overthrow and won the Supercopa for the third time in its history and in fact with a roster with only Spanish players.

Bilbao wore its traditional red and white jersey in the final. Inaki Williams was the MVP of the final. The jersey has the Supercopa patch on one sleeve and inside this number 2 which symbolizes how many times the team has won the tournament. In addition there is another patch on the chest as well as the "FINAL 2021". Finally, Bilbao usual, has the Basque flag on the back of the shirt and above the player's name.
