Denmark entered the 2018 World Cup with a formidable roster and ambition. Coach was Age Hareide and absolute leader Christian Eriksen.

In Group C, Denmark faced France, Peru and Australia. They first beat Peru 1-0 with a goal from Poulsen, then drew 1-1 with Australia after Eriksen gave the lead but were equalized by a Jedinak own goal and finally followed the match with France which ended 0 -0. This was also the only game of the tournament where no goals were scored.

In the round of 16 Denmark faced Croatia in an impressive game. Just in the 1st minute, Jørgensen made it 1-0 for Denmark, while in the 4th minute, Mandžukić equalized for Croatia. The game went into extra time. Croatia came close to victory when they won a penalty in the 116th minute but Schmeichel saved Modric's effort. In the penalty shootout, the two goalkeepers were excellent. 3-2, however, gave qualification to Croatia.

Andreas Christensen started all of Denmark's games at the 2018 World Cup. He was an important player for Denmark despite ultimately failing to qualify for the quarter-finals. This shirt is similar to the one worn by the Scandinavians in the event. The Danes wore the red kit in two of the four matches, against Peru and against France.
