Two years after winning the FIBA Basketball Champions League, Virtus Bologna won another European title. The Italian team withdrew from the FIBA competition after winning it in 2020 and the following season competed in the EuroCup reaching the semi-finals.

In the 2021-2022 season, however, it reached a step higher by winning the title. The tournament format initially had two groups of 10 teams. The top eight from each group would advance to the playoffs. Virtus Bologna finished fourth in Group B behind Gran Canaria, Valencia and Cedevita Olimpija.

The playoffs were held in single knockout games where the higher ranked team in the regular season would have home court advantage. Virtus Bologna welcomed the Lithuanian Lietkabelis in the round of 16 and won 75-67. In the quarterfinals, Virtus defeated Germany's Ulm 83-77 and advanced to the semifinals.

In the semi-final, Virtus Bologna faced Valencia away from home, which had been in second place in the group in the regular season. Nevertheless, the Italians were impressive and with 73-83 won and qualified for the final. The opponent in the final was the Turkish Bursaspor, which was also in the same group in the regular season and had been in seventh place, as a result of which Virtus has the home advantage. Virtus Bologna put on a great performance and led by MVP Teodosic and Belinelli won 80-67 and won the EuroCup for the first time and this was the team's sixth overall European title.

This jersey is the European version used by Virtus Bologna as in the Italian league he wore a different version from macron. Marco Belinelli was the captain and leader of this team. This jersey was worn in several of the EuroCup games that season.
