PAS Ioannina had a very good season in 2012-2013 with Giannis Christopoulos as coach. The Epirus team played in the playoffs of the Super League and claimed European participation.

After 30 games, PAS Ioannina was in fifth place in the standings with 44 points and having left Panathinaikos out of the playoffs. In the playoffs PAS Ioannina had to face PAOK, Atromitos and Asteras Tripoli with three of the four teams winning participation in European competitions.
