The holder of the Greek championship Panathinaikos competed in the CEV Challenge Cup in the 2022-2023 season. The greens started the season with coach Branko Gajic, but ended it with Yannis Kalmazidis.

Panathinaikos overcame the obstacle of Swiss Pfeigen in the first round with two wins. In the round of 32, the opponent was Nantes from France, which until then was first in the French league. Panathinaikos was impressive and with 3-1 and 1-3 wins they got a great qualification. Next, the opponent of the greens was the Italian Chieri. Chieri's hurdle proved insurmountable as the Italians won 3-0 at home and 2-3 in Athens. Kyrie in the process was the team that won the CEV Challenge Cup.

Despite this, Panathinaikos finished the season successfully as they won the championship and in fact by braking in the semi-finals against AEK and then by swiping against Olympiakos. The third and final final was held at OAKA with the presence of 6000 fans.

Athina Papafotiou was the captain of Panathinaikos and the first player to lift the champion's trophy. The Greek setter was the MVP of the championship and the leader of the team. This jersey was used in Panathinaikos' European games. The difference compared to the one worn in the Volley League is that the name was written in English while the CEV Challenge Cup logo was printed on the front, as opposed to the Greek league matches.
