A season with many different jerseys and great victories was for Panathinaikos in 2002-2003. However, the greens did not manage to win a title in Greece while they lost the distinction in the details in the UEFA Cup.

Panathinaikos started the season with three defeats, losing to PAOK, Proodeftiki and AEK. Nevertheless, an impressive streak followed that brought Panathinaikos to first place in the standings. The championship was decided one game before the end. Panathinaikos was facing Olympiakos away from home and one point was enough for them to stay first and face Akratitos in the last matchday. However, Olympiacos won 3-0 in a game where the atmosphere was extremely harsh towards the Panathinaikos players.

Panathinaikos wore four different jerseys that season, two green and two white. This was the only year that Panathinaikos used the white jersey more than the green one. This particular shirt was worn for the first time on the 6^th matchday in the game against Panachaiki, while a different white shirt had already been worn in games for the league, the Cup and the UEFA Cup. In a period when patches were still not used in Greece and UEFA Cup, the main difference between the jersey for the domestic competitions and the UEFA Cup, apart from the Latin letters on the back, was that in the domestic competitions there was the sponsor OTE on the back. In addition, the difference compared to the commercial replicas was that the adidas logo was not present on the number. Goran Vlaović in the 2002-2003 season had injury problems and played in 21 games in all competitions scoring 4 times.
